About me
I'm Tom. I lecture in Operations and Supply Chain Management at Anglia Ruskin University by day, and spend the rest of my time chasing the next interesting thing — whether that's a new EV, an AI side project, or figuring out how the world is going to decarbonise without completely falling apart.
I've been obsessed with electric vehicles for longer than it was cool. I've owned a string of them — two BMW i3s (yes, two, they were that good), a Model 3, and now a left-hand drive Tesla Model S Plaid, which is simultaneously the most impractical and most brilliant car I've ever owned. I'm also involved with Tesla Owners UK, the best car club I've ever been part of.
On the AI front, I co-founded BrewAI — we're building AI tools for the craft brewing industry, which turns out to be a surprisingly perfect testbed for applied machine learning. I'm also deeply interested in what Generative AI means for higher education, and I write about that here too.
This site is a collection of things I think are worth writing down: opinions on the EV transition, AI in education, supply chain stuff, and the occasional piece that doesn't fit neatly into any category. I write for myself first — if someone else finds it useful, that's a bonus.
The serial side-quests
- ⚡ EVs & Tesla — owner, enthusiast, and occasional critic
- 🍺 BrewAI — co-founder, AI for craft brewing
- 🎓 Academia — supply chain, operations, and now AI pedagogy
- 🛰️ Home lab — Mac Mini, Starlink, self-hosted everything
- 👨👧👦 Dad — the most important one

Find me on Twitter/X or LinkedIn. I'm always up for a conversation about EVs, AI, or why the Model S Plaid is worth the hassle of driving on the wrong side.
